What is Stillwaters?
Stillwaters is the only community-based nonprofit organization in Wisconsin to provide professional counseling for the psychosocial and emotional issues associated with a cancer diagnosis. Stillwaters serves patients, spouses, family members (including school-age children), co-workers and others.
Is there a charge for Stillwaters services?
No, Stillwaters recognizes the financial strain an illness can have and is committed to providing support services at no cost or obligation. All programs are made possible due to the generous support of individuals, corporations, foundations, United Way in Waukesha County and special fundraising events such as the Harvest Ball and Golf Outing.
Can my family members and friends find support at Stillwaters?
Yes. When cancer enters our lives, it impacts those who love us. Family members and friends are welcome to participate in all programming unless otherwise specified.
I do not live in Waukesha County, am I eligible to receive Stillwaters services?
Yes. Stillwaters primary service delivery is Waukesha County and it’s surrounding communities. Those who reside outside this area are also invited to participate in our programming.
Do I need a doctors referral to participate in Stillwaters programming?
No. A physician may refer a patient to Stillwaters, but that is not necessary in order to receive services. Referrals to Stillwaters may come from doctors, medical professionals, friends, family or self.
Do I need to be newly diagnosed with cancer to receive Stillwaters services?
No. Stillwaters realizes that the impact cancer has on ones life varies for each person and family member/friend. Services are available for those affected by cancer at any stage of the illness, i.e. recently diagnosed, actively receiving treatment, post treatment, and bereavement.
